Backing up and restoring Lovely Views settings in Zendesk

Configuring Lovely Views often involves fine-tuning preferences across views, sorting, agent workflows, and visibility rules. For teams that rely heavily on these settings, losing or rebuilding them manually can be time-consuming.

Lovely Views includes a Backup & Restore feature that lets admins save their configuration and reapply it when needed.

Why backing up settings matters

Teams typically use backups to:

• Safeguard settings before making major changes
• Restore configurations after troubleshooting or experimentation
• Clone the same setup across environments or instances
• Quickly recover from accidental changes

Instead of reconfiguring everything by hand, admins can rely on a single saved configuration.

What the backup includes

The backup exports your Lovely Views configuration as a JSON file. This file captures the app’s settings in one place, including preferences that control how views, tickets, and agent workflows behave.

Because the backup reflects the full configuration at the time it’s created, it can be reused later to restore the app to that exact state.

Restoring configurations when needed

If settings need to be rolled back or replicated, the restore option allows admins to apply a previously saved JSON configuration. This replaces the current setup with the saved one, making it easy to return to a known, working configuration.

This is especially useful for teams managing multiple environments or making frequent configuration changes.
